A magical moment in the rubble of Jiangkou

All in all it was a  bit of a busy day.  Wan Yi wants to take me to his hometown and had told me last night hat he would take me today sometime after two.  At about one, he texted me and said that he could not take me because he could not get off work and his son had taken the car to Tongren.  seemed like a good enough excuse.  Meanwhile, Freya had invited me to play with her and her friends in the park.  Seemed good to me.  It was along way to the park but I decided to walk.  The mapping software was very good except that it was north up and wouldn't change.  It told me that my preferred route was no entry.  It was correct, but it didn't know that I would climb up some scaffolding and over a bridge rather than take the 3/4 mile alternative route!  This area of Jiangkou, like many other areas to be honest, was under heavy re-construction.  There were blue corrugated panel fences everywhere, and not much else!  Eventually I found Freya.  She was with three boys, and girl and two parents.  The three boys were special needs boys from her school.  At first they didn't want to talk, but after I showed them how to whistle loudly and how to make balloons squeak, they warmed up!  I played a game with them where each word had a hand action and they seemed to like this.  They began to speak English!   The place where we were seated was like Santa's grotto.  All around were yellow plastic LED wheat fields and LED trees and a few 3D reindeer!  All this in amongst what can only be described as a building site!  I really wanted to take a picture of this surreal place but never got a chance!  I am sure yo can get a flavour of it from the backgrounds in the photos and videos.  Next time I go there I'll add some photos!

Skill mastered!

His reading was quite good and his confidence grew immensely.  His mum messaged me alter and thanked me for teaching her sons.  So nice!  It was really a magical moment, with various passers by stopping and watching what was happening!  A little bit of magic in a surreal environment!
Afterwards I met up with Wan Yi for dinner and accompanied him to the park.  The park was very quiet, no singing except for the yodeling rap stuff, cant stand it, and not many doing ballroom dancing!  I went home early for a change!
Next week I plan to contact the dance instructor and see where that leads...just a little cautious after he sent me some kisses the other day!...but nothing ventured, nothing gained!
