The Police Roadblock.

Today as I walked up he mainstream, I noticed a crowd of people, a number of Traffic Police Officers, and several motorbike 'awnings' in the road.  I guessed there had been an accident, but I was curious and hung around to explore.  I discovered that it wasn't an accident but a kind of roadblock.  I hung around for a while and tried to gauge what was happening.  It seemed to be a spot check.  Licences were being checked and may be insurance too.  Just motorcycles and three wheelers, not cars.  The richer more affluent people seemed to have all the necessary paperwork, the poorer ones did not.  They were taken to the front of the police car and, I think, were required to pay a fine.  I watched a while longer.  Some approaching motor cycles  'U' turned and drove off in teh opposite direction.  The Police seemed totally unconcerned about this.  However I was still puzzled.  There were two or three motor cycle awnings at the side of the awnings lying at the side of the road.  Then I saw the answer!  The police were removing them form the bikes they stopped.  My guess is that they are illegal but no one cares.  However as the police have to be seen to be doing their job, then from time to time they enforce these laws.  Nobody was in the least irate and just accepted things as they were.  I took a few photos and a video.

The 'removed' motorbike awnings are in the middle of this picture on the right just by the break in the railings.  There was another few on the other side of the road.
