Shrika is not happy here yet. So i took her out to meet the locals. We went to the little shop nearby and several people stared. I invited themto take photos. They were happy...even Sherika smiled.

I then took her to meet woodshopman. She didn't seem to keen but, the more contacts you make in China the better. As is the custom, he offered tea. Sherika told me that she had already had on e cup today and didn't want anymore. I explained this to woodshopman. He produced some camomile tea,, but Sherika did not want any. I drank tea and Sherikas recited some English words fro a book to woodshopman's son. After abut ten minutes Sherika looked bored and said that she wanted to go and buy her cabbage, the reason we had come out in the first place, and go home. I offered my apologies and we walked out of the shop and down the street. Sherika also wanted to buy a washing line. As we passed a little hardware shop she saw some rope and sent me in to buy it. We bought the rope. We looked for her cabbage she wanted a specific type....that type was not available so she did not buy. I took her home. I did some work and went out.
I was wandering down by the park when I spotted one....a foreigner! Not many of those in Jaingkou! So I got a photo! Meet Paul from Sydney Australia, visiting Fanjingshan with his Chinese wife and family. He was taller than me by a good few inches! How refreshing!

The last foreigners I met were Hungarian, I'm not sure if I posted it, it was two weeks ago! Just for good measure here is their picture....they were a little suspicious at being stopped by an English guy for a photo!

Bean and corn lolly ices.
When I first came here I had my first been lolly ice, I thought it was peas but learned later that i was beans! I have had many different varieties of bean lolly ice, and actually they are surprisingly nice! However yesterday, I had my first corn-flavoured lolly ice. It was coated in a thick rice paper which made it resemble a corn on the cob, and underneath was what I can only describe as sweetcorn flavoured ice-cream. It was lovely! Bring them to England, that's what I say!
