The Tongren Conference - part one

Several months ago, Jamie, the sort of 'local area boss' told me about a conference.  He wanted me to speak at it.  After some persuasion, I agreed.  Eventually the posters were produced and the teachers were booked and I was given a brief.  Prepare about ten lessons.  That was it!

Well I am not the best at following commands at the best of times, but this was too vague! I asked several times more an d was eventually referred to Angela.  She was our 'manager'.  It helps tha I know Angela.  I asked her what it was all about.  She started to ask questions, with the distinctive advantage of being able to speak Chinese!  Eventually after a lot of tooing and froing the information started to drip through.  It was a conference for Cinese English teachers from a nearby county.  They would be paying to attend.  I would be required to do a series of fourteen lessons to three diffrent classes of teachers.  One primary calss and two junior high classes.  Five other teachers would be following a similar breif.  Then fourteen hours grew to sixteen, a timetable emerged, and changed, and changed again.  Eventually everything settled down, well as much as it could settel down in China!  So, I have started preapring my lessons, with no idea what the other six are producing and just hoping that there is no overlap.  I have treid to aonctact the others with littel success, so I am going for the obscure end of teaching in the belief that there is less chance of an overlap with the others.  We shall wait and see!
