The installation of the office air conditioning

Work is enjoyable, but as the Summer heat draws in, things are starting to get difficult.  Often teh tempoerature is over thirty degrees centigrade but it is the humidity that is tking its toll.  Ninety-seven percent humidity.  Fine if you have grown up with it, and most of teh school kids have, but for me I am constanly wet.  I walk into school just fifteen minutes, my cliothes are wet.  I change into my teaching clothes, teach, my clothes are wet.  Back to the office and change into my other clothes etc. etc.  I thin it had taken its toll.  Upset stomach.  So I put on my dry clothes and walked into town looking for medicine for my stomach and also to stop teh mosquitos biting.  Eleven bites on my legs yesterday, my legs were on fire.  I managed to get the stomach medicine, or at least that's what I hoped it was after I mimed diahorrea to he pharmacist.  Then my phone rang.  It was my boss.  "Where are you Mike, the guys to fit the air conditioning are here and we dont have a key to your office!"  Having been in China a while now, I realise that nobody plans anything well.  In |England I might just have told them to sort it out as I was busy, but one, it was air conditioning, and two you just have to let go of 'western' expectations.  Its there, it needs to be done now and I am th only one who can do it.  So I went back to the office.  There they were, the air conditiner fiting guys.  Now I am not het flourth floor probably a good thirty feet to the floor.  Ther was no scaffolding, no ladders so I though I would wait and observe.  It proved very interesting!
To put things in a context, this is my office after the air conditioning had been fitted.  My office is top floor second from the right.
They arived, brought the stuff in and tied back the curtains.
The then brough in the external air conditioning unit and opened the window
One of the guys put on a safety harness but attached it to nothing, and climbed out the window onto a ledge that was no more than six inches wide.  the other guy attached a rope to the unit and with the assistance of the guy outside lowered it onto the brackets they had just fitted and not tested.
Shortly afterwards the guy on the outside started to attach the outside unit to the brackets whilst sitting astride it.  His safety harness was attached to the brackets on which the outside air conditioninh unit was balanced and which he was sitting astride!  Now, I am far from being an expert, but if the brackets failed and he fell then either the air conditioning unit would pull him to the ground at a fair speed or he would land first and then the security line would ensure that the air conditioning unit would land on top on him!  Interesting!
Sitting astride the air-conditioning unit 'plumbing it in'!

Fitting the air conditioning unit to the office downstairs!
Anyhow, we now have air conditioning, term is almost over, but we have air conditioning.  I am told that the air conditioning also acts as a heater in the winter.  We shall see!  I sat there in the cold for a while and went home to sleep....I was not well.
