Strange foods - well at least for foreigners, and plastic gloves
KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken
I'll start with KFC ( Kentucky Fried Chicken). There is not a franchise in Jiangkou. However, the ever resourceful Chinese do have something similar: VFC.
...the stuff it sells is similar, except the burgers are possibly not 100% pure chicken breast and that's why Chinese people like bones in their meat...at least is is more likely to be meat if it has a bone! Not sure what the Chinese writing on the logo means 'bis sheng ji' are the letters which I think is some play on words as chicken is also pronounced as 'ji' but it is a different letter. If I find out, I'll update the page, or if a Chinese person reads it, please comment below! Oh! and another strange thing instead of those little wet wipes to clean your hands after eating KFC you get plastic gloves instead. Weird for me, but but normal in China! and very practical too as many Chinese eating places have no toilet or washing facilities.
Pea flavoured lolly ice with real peas!
Well it had peas on the packet and it was a lolly ice, I had to have one!
I opened the packet and the contents were dark green,
it looked like it had bits in it! Maybe, wheat.. so I bit it...it was peas! real peas!
they were small and yellow, but they were real peas! How unusual! ..and it tasted really good. Hard to describe the taste, but I'd buy it by choice next time. Lolly ice with peas! What next....strange place China!
Cucumber flavoured crisps
Shortly after I found cucumber flavoured crisps.. and yes, they tasted like cucumber! Very popular here, so I am told!
