Childrens day - part one

Today, Saturday the first of June is Children's Day.  This may not mean a lot in some countries, but in China, where children usually go to seven days a week,  it seems many children don't go to school on this day.  I believe that there is a big celebration down in the park, so I am going there to check it out.  I''ll post some stuff later!
Well that was an interesting day!  So much happened that I've split it into three parts, which more or less correspond to morning shopping, daytime in the park and evening at the restaurant.
So went into town.  Id decided to do a few things.  Firstly I was going to get my hair cut, and secondly I was going to buy a bigger umbrella.  Haircut was long overdue for good reasons!  I have difficulty explaining how I want my hair cut in England, and this was China, and Jiangkou, where I will have to mime what I want!  Before and after are below.  Needless to say it wasn't exactly what I wanted, and yes, price wise I was ripped off.  I've learned that much.  Before and after pics below!

That having been done, I went to get an umbrella.  I already have a very small pocket one, which is okay for emergencies, but I need a bigger one for the heavier regular rain as it is far too humid to wear a raincoat.  Most people here use umbrellas all the time, to protect from the rain and also from the sun!  Seems a little strange at first but its really very practical as it is always very humid here.  No pictures of the umbrella here, but for your information it is dark blue and got a hooked handle!
